

Mac OS X version 10.7 and later do not come with a JRE or JDK installed at all. These will not work with the current version of Oracle SQL Developer (version 18 or 19) and so a newer version of Java such as version 8 or 11 must be installed. It may be an older JRE such as JRE 6 or JRE 7.
